The Story
Well over a century ago, my great grandmother with the help of my grandmother, opened the first Lara family restaurant at her boarding house in the rough and tumble border mining regions of Salinas.
Their delicious homemade meals pleased the demanding palates of the hungry pioneer miners and they became known throughout that region for their cooking.
The recipe for the salsa you hold in your hands is the same enjoyed by those miners. For generations, the Lara family has used this simple salsa as a dip, to cook with or simply put it all over their food. This salsa is amazingly versatile. Enjoy!
